After driving with this tyre for 3 years on my Leon and being very satisfied with them, They offer great grip in winter conditions and they keep you safe. I fitted new ones to my new Alhambra this year.

I am satisfied with performance but using during second winter parts of grip surfaces starts to tear off

I live in Paris and bought these tyres (× 4) for a Citroën C1 that I use to travel across Germany, Austria, and Hungary to Romania about once a year. Sometimes I also drive in the French Alps. Small cars like this are noisy at speed, and this tyre is significantly quieter than the Michelin Energy tyres of identical size that I use in the summer. The ride quality is also noticeably better: the WR D4 has thin, flexible sidewalls without thick protective feature, and that means bumps are absorbed very well. I have not noticed a difference in petrol consumption. Grip in cold and wet conditions is okay. Below about 4°C it becomes better than the Michelin Energy. However, above about 6–8°C the Michelin Energy actually grips better in the wet. In snow the Nokian WR D4 is much, much better. It is also much better at about −10°C. But I guess I expected slightly better grip in typical French winter temperatures (above freezing, wet roads). Wear is rapid, especially compared to the incredibly slow-wear characteristics of the Michelin Energy. I estimate the Nokians wear about three times quicker than the Michelins. Of course they are a different type of tyre. I’m very happy for the price, but I can imagine the much more expensive Michelin winter tyres would be even better, based on my experience with summer Michelins.

I have a Volvo S60 2.4 (170PS) and I had a set of WR G2 before. It was not a question which brand a want to buy again. I checked the available types and looked for something similar as WR G2 were. I decided to buy a set of WR D4. After the third season on them I can say, that the tyres fits for a normal European winter: no aquaplanning, very stable and so on... But... WR G2’s were better, with D4s you have to be more clever in different winter situations, because they cannot provide you fully what you are waiting from them...

We have already 3(!) garnitures of these tires in our family, two with 205/55R16 size with Renault Megane II 1.6 gasoline & Laguna II 1.9 dCi, while the third one is with 215/65R16 on Dacia Duster 1.5 dCi 4X4. On snow I did not experienced better tire like this - tried couple of (Hankook, Continental) on my company cars. The only condition I recognized it slippery was on slope + ice, but his is I think really extreme. The Duster with 4X4 with these tires is really unstoppable - it was still going while snow level reached the wheel hub level. What I would like to underline is the extremely silent running. With proper replacement timing - November & March - wearing was normal.

I bought 2tyres before 3years , and this winter I bought another 2. There is no slipping, the noise is smaller than previous tires, and there is no difference between the new tires, and these two, which I bought before three years. In snow and ice conditions, you feel confidence and assurance like you drive a 4x4 car. The best winter tyre ever.

Absolutely fantastic in all driving conditions, perfect on wet roads, trustfully on snow, very low noise, so, at the end is a pleasure to drive a car with those tyres.

I just bought these tires few days ago, unexpectedly had to do an emergency braking on wet to no hit the car in front of me, the tires helped A LOT i know how the previous tires that I had on my Avensis were braking under wet road but this is a difference. It helped me not to have an impact with the car in front of me and saved me from the damage that could've occur.

Controlled handling
The sipes of the sturdy centre rib do not run across its entire width, which improves precision and promotes controlled handling.
More winter grip, better steering feel
Each tread block and sipe in the stylish tread pattern has a precise shape and role, and this can be felt in the excellent grip and handling properties.
Maximum grip on snow
The tread blocks are split into groups of three and have Handling Supports on the bottoms of the grooves in order to improve handling.
More grip and driving feel
The Stiff Handling Blocks have heavy sipes to improve traction; they become shallower when moving towards the shoulder from the centre. This design improves grip on snow as well as the driving feel. An aggressive activator sipe that is used to boost the operation of the shoulder block during acceleration and braking, when grip is needed the most, is located in the middle of the shoulder blocks.
Precise grip, excellent wear resistance, low fuel consumption
The unique particle distribution of the Nokian Twin Trac Silica rubber compound, which contains natural rubber, silica and canola oil, ensures peak performance for snow and wet grip.
